Privacy Policy
Last updated: 10/12/2025
- Introduction
Amuse your mouth (referred to in this policy as “we”, “us”, or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect through our website and related services, how we use and safeguard that data, and your rights in relation to your personal information. This policy applies when you use our Site, for example, to contact us or sign up for our newsletter. As an EU-based business, we process personal data in accordance with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable privacy laws.
- Data We Collect
We only collect personal data that is relevant and necessary for the purposes described in this policy. This includes:
- Information You Provide Directly: When you contact us through our website’s contact form, we ask for information such as your name, email address, and the content of your message. Similarly, if you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address (and possibly your name, if provided) to send you periodic updates. Providing this information is voluntary, but note that we may be unable to respond to your inquiry or send the newsletter if required fields are left blank.
- Automatically Collected Data (Cookies and Analytics): When you visit our Site, certain data is collected automatically via cookies and similar technologies. The only cookies we use are Google Analytics cookies, which gather information about how visitors use our Site. This may include data such as your IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and the time spent on our Site. We have configured Google Analytics to anonymize IP addresses where applicable, reducing the chance that you are personally identified. (See Section 5 on Cookies and Analytics for more detail.)
We do
not collect any special categories of personal data (such as sensitive health or financial information) through our Site, and we do not intentionally collect data from children under the age of 16 (see Section 9 on Children’s Privacy).
- How We Use Your Data
We use the personal data collected for the following purposes:
- To Respond to Inquiries: If you contact us via the contact form or email, we will use your provided contact details and message to reply to you and address your requests or questions.
- To Send Newsletters and Updates: If you have subscribed to our newsletter (with your consent), we will use your email address to send you our periodic newsletter and any relevant updates about our food tours, new services, or promotions. You can opt out of these communications at any time by clicking the “unsubscribe” link in any newsletter email or by contacting us directly.
- Analytics and Site Improvement: We use data collected by Google Analytics to understand how our website is used and to improve the user experience. For example, analytics data helps us identify which pages are most popular or if users encounter errors on certain pages. This analysis is performed on an aggregate basis; we do not use Google Analytics to identify you personally.
- Maintain Security and Prevent Misuse: We may process data (like IP addresses or logs) to protect the security of our Site, to prevent fraud, and to detect and mitigate malicious or unauthorized activities. This helps us keep the Site safe for all users.
We will not use your personal data for purposes that are incompatible with those listed above without informing you and obtaining your consent if required.
- Legal Bases for Processing (GDPR)
The GDPR requires that we have a valid legal basis for each use of your personal data. We rely on the following legal grounds:
- Consent: We process your personal data for the newsletter based on your consent. When you enter your email and request to subscribe, you are giving us permission to use your email for sending newsletters. You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time (for example, by unsubscribing from the newsletter), and we will stop that processing. Likewise, if we use non-essential cookies like Google Analytics, we will do so based on your consent via the cookie settings on our Site (where required by law).
- Legitimate Interests: We process certain data based on our legitimate interests, provided those are not overridden by your privacy rights. For instance, when you submit a question through the contact form, we have a legitimate interest in processing your information to reply to you. We also have a legitimate interest in understanding site usage (analytics) to improve our services. When relying on this basis, we always consider your rights and expectations and take steps to minimize impacts on your privacy (for example, by anonymizing data when possible).
- Legal Obligation: In some cases, we may need to process or retain personal data to comply with a legal obligation (for example, consumer protection laws or accounting/tax requirements). While this is less likely to apply to data collected via our Site, we mention it here for completeness.
If you have any questions about the legal basis of how we process your data, feel free to contact us (see Section 12).
- Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Our Site’s use of cookies is limited to Google Analytics cookies, which are non-essential, analytical cookies. Here’s what you should know:
- Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, to collect anonymized statistical data about our Site’s usage. Google Analytics cookies track things like how you arrived at our Site, which pages you visit, your general location (e.g., city or country), and your interactions with our Site. This information is transmitted to and stored by Google, which may be in a server outside the EU (typically the United States). Google is a data processor for us, and we have configured Google Analytics to comply with GDPR requirements (including enabling IP anonymization). Google will use this information on our behalf to evaluate your use of the Site and compile reports on website activity.
- Your Choices: When you first visit our Site, you will be (or have been) provided with a notice about our use of cookies. Because we only use Google Analytics cookies, we may infer your consent if you continue to use the Site after seeing the notice (depending on local requirements). However, you have options: you can refuse or disable cookies through your browser settings. You can also install the https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout to prevent your data from being used by Google Analytics on any website. Disabling or refusing these cookies should not significantly affect your ability to use our Site, but it will make our statistics less accurate.
- No Other Cookies: We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels, and we do not install any cookies aside from those required for Google Analytics (and any necessary cookies for basic site functionality). For more details on how Google Analytics works and how Google handles data, you can review Google’s https://policies.google.com/privacy and https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/6004245.
- Data Sharing and Disclosure
We treat your personal data with care and confidentiality. We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties. We only share your data in the following circumstances:
- Service Providers: We may share information with trusted third-party service providers who perform functions on our behalf and under our instructions. For example, this can include the company that provides our website hosting, or an email service provider that distributes our newsletter. These processors only access your data as needed to perform their tasks for us and are contractually obligated to keep your information confidential and secure. Google Analytics, as mentioned, is one such service provider, and it processes analytics data under our instructions.
- Legal Requirements and Protection: We may disclose personal data if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., to comply with a court order or law enforcement request). We may also disclose information if we believe in good faith that it is necessary to investigate or protect against harmful activities to our guests, users, associates, or property (including this Site), or to enforce our Terms of Use.
- Business Transfers: In the unlikely event that our business is involved in a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or sale of assets, personal data held by us may be transferred to the new owner or successor entity. If this happens, we will ensure that the successor entity is bound by this Privacy Policy or notify you and give an opportunity to opt out of the transfer of your data.
Whenever we share data with third parties, we only share the minimum amount necessary for the specific purpose and, when applicable, ensure that appropriate safeguards (such as Data Processing Agreements and, if data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, Standard Contractual Clauses or other transfer mechanisms) are in place to protect your personal data.
- Data Retention
We keep your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, or to comply with legal or regulatory requirements. In practice:
- If you contact us via the contact form or email, we will retain your information and our response for a reasonable period in order to follow up on your inquiry and maintain our records. Typically, we might retain inquiry communications for up to 1 year after resolving your question, unless a longer retention period is required (for instance, if your inquiry leads to a booking or contractual relationship, or for legal reasons).
- If you subscribe to our newsletter, we will retain your email address and any related information for as long as you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe or otherwise withdraw your consent, we will promptly remove you from the mailing list and cease sending you emails. We may keep a record of your unsubscribe request to ensure we honor your preference in the future.
- Google Analytics data is retained according to our configured settings with Google. We currently retain aggregated analytics data for 14 months (this is a common default setting) to allow us to analyze trends over time. Individual user-level data associated with cookies and advertising identifiers is automatically deleted by Google after that retention period.
- In all cases, we may retain data longer if required by law (for example, some transaction records might need to be kept for several years for tax/regulatory purposes), or to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims. Conversely, we may delete data sooner if it is no longer needed.
After the applicable retention period, we will securely delete or anonymize your personal data, so it can no longer be associated with you.
- Your Rights Under GDPR
As a user of our Site and an individual whose personal data we process, you have certain rights under the GDPR (and other applicable privacy laws). These include:
- Right to Be Informed: You have the right to be informed about the collection and use of your personal data. This Privacy Policy is intended to provide you with that information.
- Right of Access: You have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, as well as information about how we process it. This is often called a “Data Subject Access Request.”
- Right to Rectification: If any personal data we have about you is incorrect or incomplete, you have the right to have it corrected or updated. For example, if you change your email address or realize we have a misspelling of your name, you can ask us to fix it.
- Right to Erasure: Also known as the “right to be forgotten,” you can ask us to delete your personal data under certain circumstances – for instance, if the data is no longer necessary for the purposes it was collected, or if you withdraw your consent and we have no other legal basis for processing. Please note this right is not absolute and may be subject to exceptions (e.g., we might need to retain certain information to comply with a legal obligation).
- Right to Restrict Processing: You have the right to request that we limit the processing of your data in certain situations. This could apply if you contest the accuracy of your data and want us to verify it, or if you object to our processing and we are considering your request. During such cases, we may store your data but not use it until the issue is resolved.
- Right to Data Portability: For data you have provided to us and which we process by automated means based on your consent or a contract, you have the right to request a copy in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format (for example, CSV file), and you have the right to have that data transmitted to another controller where technically feasible. In practical terms, this right is most likely to apply to information you provided for the newsletter subscription.
- Right to Object: You have the right to object to our processing of your personal data when we do so based on legitimate interests or for direct marketing purposes. For example, you can object to receiving our newsletter at any time, and we will stop sending it. You can also object to any data processing done for analytics/marketing by adjusting cookie settings or contacting us. If we receive an objection, we will stop or limit the processing unless we have compelling legitimate grounds to continue or if it’s needed for legal claims.
- Right to Withdraw Consent: If we are processing your personal data based on your consent, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawing consent will not affect the lawfulness of processing done previously, but it means we will stop the specific activities you had consented to (for example, we will stop sending you newsletters).
- Right to Lodge a Complaint: If you believe we have processed your personal data unlawfully or not complied with your rights, you have the right to file a complaint with a Data Protection Supervisory Authority. If you are in the EU, this would typically be your local authority; for example, in Greece it is the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (HDPA). We would, however, appreciate the chance to address your concerns directly before you do this, so please consider reaching out to us first.
To exercise any of your rights, you can contact us using the information provided in Section 12. We will respond to requests in accordance with GDPR requirements, usually within one month. Please note we may ask you for proof of identity before honoring certain requests, to ensure we do not disclose your data to an unauthorized person.
- Children’s Privacy
Our services and Site are not directed to children under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you are under 16 (or a higher age threshold where your country so dictates), please do not use the contact form or sign up for the newsletter without consent from a parent or guardian. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child without proper consent, we will take steps to delete that information. Parents or guardians who believe their child may have provided us with personal data can contact us, and we will promptly remove the data and unsubscribe the minor from any mailings.
- International Data Transfers
As an EU-based company, we primarily store and process your data within the European Economic Area (EEA). However, some of our service providers might be located outside of the EEA. In particular, using Google Analytics may result in personal data (like truncated IP addresses and usage data) being transferred to Google’s servers in the United States or other countries. When we transfer personal data outside the EEA, we take steps to ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your information in accordance with GDPR. This may include using contracts approved by the European Commission (Standard Contractual Clauses) or ensuring the recipient is certified under an approved framework (if applicable). Despite the extra precautions, we acknowledge that transferring data to a jurisdiction like the U.S. (which may not have the same level of data protection laws as the EU) can present additional privacy risks. By using our Site and submitting your information, you understand that your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside of your own. If you prefer not to have your data transferred outside the EEA, please refrain from using features that necessitate such transfer (like the newsletter or Site usage that triggers analytics) or contact us to discuss alternatives.
- Data Security
We take the security of your personal data seriously. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. This includes using secure technologies (such as HTTPS encryption for data transmission on our Site), maintaining up-to-date software, and limiting access to personal data to those employees and contractors who need it for the purposes described above. Although we work hard to protect your data, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. Therefore, while we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach that affects your personal data, we will notify you and relevant authorities as required by law.

- Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or for other operational reasons. When we make changes, we will modify the “Last updated” date at the top of this policy. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your information. If we make significant changes, we may provide a more prominent notice (such as a banner on the Site or an email notification if appropriate).
